Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

A robot vacuum is a great device to keep an orderly home. It will nab pet hair, dust and other particles from the floor before it becomes a larger problem.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free environment. Find models that recharge and pick up where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is a great choice for many homes. It is able to vacuum and mop well and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of features and controls that are available via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that need extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones where you do not want it to be. It also receives software updates, like the other Roomba products, which enhance it over time.

It's expensive, but it's also one of the most sophisticated robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can vacuum a large home in under two hours. Additionally, it can switch between vacuuming and mopping at the touch of a button. And, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after each run, it automatically emptys into an even larger waste container on top of its charging dock.

It also has a number of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts to recognize obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the best at avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it isn't as reliable at detecting pet waste or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

While Anker-owned Eufy has earned an impact in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model that can also mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive suite of advanced features and is able to compete with more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's this machine is its laser navigation. The previous Eufy devices have constructed an approximate map of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into things but the X8's laser mapping technology is much more accurate. It takes less time to build a comprehensive map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on floors with no dust, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are adept at hugging corners and edges even though they are circular. Our tests revealed that it was able to remove 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

The basic mopping mode uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that aren't too dangerous, but you are unable to limit the amount of water that it uses. It's effective at picking up pet hair. It has a higher rate of pick-up than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum is a great choice because of its cleaning power, stunning design and great navigation. However, it does have a few operational oddities that prevent it from being ranked as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that makes use of LIDAR to map a room, and a pair 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped, you can assign virtual no-go zones and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also initiate a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, view live feeds from the onboard cameras, and more on the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust on floors that are unfinished. However, it's not exactly the most agile robot on the market. Like many other robots, it's not a good climber and has issues with things like metal threshold transition strips.

Many people purchase robot vacuums due to the ease of setting up a schedule using an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. It's crucial that a robot can get the job done, which is the reason our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most popular models to help you select the perfect one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac that looks just like the other, but it has some extra features and better performance. Its smart mapping system creates 2D and 3-D maps of your house and makes use of to navigate and avoid obstacles. It can even identify common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from steps is what makes it one of the most agile vacs we've tried.

It was able to climb over carpets with thick shags and didn't get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation skills were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors beat out the competition. It was able to pick up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than competitors. There's an uniform cleaning button on the top. You can access it via the app or via voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones and check the history of cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also a breeze.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is an excellent option if you're looking for a robot vacuum that's simple and simple at a reasonable price. It doesn't have many of the more advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, found in higher-end models, however, if you don't require those functions you can save a little cost with this model.

This robot is very easy to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi pairing, however it does have a remote control that lets you choose between various modes and adjust the suction level. It also lets you manually send the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely effective at getting pet fur and dirt from carpets and floors with low pile. Its slim profile made it easier to reach under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots couldn't reach. It was also able to pass over doorway thresholds and transition from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S will suck up some objects such as cords, drawstrings for hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can prevent this by keeping these items off the floor and using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin periodically replacing the filters, and washing or changing the brushes as required.

Roomba 990 from iRobot

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's also the best robot vacuum you can buy. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are a wonder to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than most competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary lines using its mobile app. While  Robot Vacuum Mops  is a little sluggish and the 980 can spin out a bit while moving over cables, it's a very capable robot vacuum.

We really like the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to store your home's floor plan. It will then use that information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than most high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt on carpets and hard floors and a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. Its floor tracking sensor assists it in maneuvering between furniture, along edges and on steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It can also return automatically to the base station to allow for charging between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size isn't as efficient as some other robot vacuums, it's a sturdy and reliable machine that can keep your floors clean for hours at a time.
